MIG / MAG welder preparation for certification

Name of the in-service training institution:  OÜ A1koolitus (a1koolitus.ee). 

Curriculum title:  MIG / MAG welder preparation for certification – 28 ac.h.

Curriculum group and basis for compiling the curriculum:  521 Mechanics and metalworking. Level 4 Welder Professional Standard Competencies. 

Levels : In-service training for adults. 

Languages of instruction: Estonian, Russian or English 

Duration : All year round, 4 study days. 

Training registration information: Registration on site or electronically.

 

Target group and conditions for starting studies:  Adults ( from the age of 18 who have practical skills in using this welding method ) will be admitted to the training of a welder on the basis of an application in accordance with the conditions. All applicants who meet the requirements for starting studies and pass an on-site test will be admitted to study.

 

Placement in groups : The division of students into groups takes into account the level of existing knowledge and spoken language.

 

Total study volume (ac.h.) :
28 academic hours, of which:
• 24 ac.h. on practice,
• 4 ac.h. is exam preparation – visual inspection

 

Teaching methods : Practice training in an individual welding place consists of performing various tasks of an instructor.

 

Online learning : None.

 

Aim of the study : At the end of the training, the welder prepares and welds various welded products, details and building structures. For more responsible work (products requiring inspection), consults and cooperates with the immediate supervisor or coordinator or foreman. The welder uses the following welding method: MIG / MAG).

 

Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the training welder:
Works with working drawings, work instructions and technology card (WPS)
• Selects tools and welding equipment correctly
• Sets welding equipment and selects modes
• Organizes the workplace properly.
• Selects personal protective equipment.
• Prepares and assembles parts and assemblies.
• Performs quality control and corrects defects if necessary
. • Welds MMA by welding and performs machining after details.

 

Content of study:

       Workplace organization, selection and preparation of production and auxiliary equipment.

1.1.1 Familiarization with the working drawing, work instructions and technological map (WPS).

1.1.2 Selection of tools.

1.1.3 Selection of welding tools.

1.1.4 Setting up welding equipment and selecting the mode.

1.1.5 Organizing a proper workplace.

1.1.6 Selection of personal protective equipment.

1.2        Preparation and inspection of parts and assemblies.

1.2.1 Preparation and compilation of details.

1.2.2 Assembly and inspection of assemblies for welding.

1.3        Quality control and repair of defects.

1.3.1 Inspection of welds and repair of defects.

1.3.2 Checking the assembly.

1.3.3 Carrying out the final inspection.

1.4        Welding (MIG / MAG) and post-processing of parts.

1.4.1 Semi-automatic welding work.

1.4.2 Ignition of the arc.

1.4.3 Melting on rollers on a plane in positions PA, PF, PC, PE.

1.4.4 Welding of T-seams in positions PA, PF, PC, PE.

1.4.5 Carrying out an interim inspection.

1.5.6 Post-processing of the finished product.

Description of the learning environment:  Both the theoretical and practical parts take place at Pae 29, Tallinn. Safety and health requirements are guaranteed in the theory auditorium and workshop. We have 4 classrooms for learning the theory, depending on the subject being taught, each class can accommodate 30+ people. The theoretical part is issued at home to record knowledge electronically (on memory sticks). We also issue both personal protective equipment and work equipment for practical training.

 

List of study materials:  WPSs to pass the selected certification.

 

Requirements for completion of studies, including assessment methods and assessment criteria:  Participation in at least 80% of hours is a prerequisite for completion of studies. In addition, the part must be welded in accordance with WPS in accordance with the evaluation criteria.

 

Documents to be issued:  Certificate if the requirements for graduation have been met. Proof if the learning outcomes were not achieved but the learner took part in the study. The certificate is issued according to the number of hours attended, but not if the learner attended less than half the hours.

 

Short description of the content:  The course is intended for metalworkers (advanced level) who are exposed in their daily work and need high-quality and precise welding work. The course is aimed at acquiring professional practical skills. After completing the course, the student is able to apply the acquired knowledge, namely to weld various materials and details in connection with the performance of their daily tasks using tools and welding equipment. A student who has passed the course and passed the final exam is ready to work or do an internship.

Evaluated:

  • Knowledge and use of professional terminology, successful completion of the practical part of the planned study.
  • Visual inspection of the part in accordance with WPS.
