Compiler-welder training
Total duration 100 academic hours / of which 60 academic hours in theory
and 40 academic hours in practice
Name of the in-service training institution: OÜ A1koolitus (a1koolitus.ee).
Curriculum title: Compiler-welder training – 100 ac.h.
Curriculum group and basis for compiling the curriculum: 521 Mechanics and metalworking.
Levels: In- service training for adults.
Languages of instruction: Estonian, Russian.
Duration: All year round, 14 study days.
Training registration information: Registration on site.
Target group and conditions for starting studies:
Adults (from the age of 18) who have expressed a wish to do so will be admitted to the training of a welder-preparer according to the conditions. All applicants who meet the requirements for starting studies will be admitted to study.
Placement in groups: The linguistic language of the learner is taken into account when dividing students into groups.
Total study volume (academic hours):
Total duration of 100 academic hours.
Auditory part 60 academic hours.
• 40 ac.h is for reading drawings, symbols and metal composition,
• 20 ac.h for safety equipment.
Practical part 40 academic hours, of which:
• 30 academic hours. there is practice, instruction in the use and adjustment of welding equipment and fixing of assemblies,
• 10 ac.h. is a visual inspection.
Learning methods:
Lectures: reading drawings, symbols and composition of metals and safety techniques
Practical training: in an individual welding place consists of performing various tasks of an instructor.
Online learning: Available (MS Teams, Meet or other appropriate environment).
Aim of the study: At the end of the training, the compiler prepares various constructions (materials: low carbon steel, stainless (CrNi) steel and aluminum) according to the drawings. For more responsible work (products requiring inspection), consult and work with the immediate supervisor or coordinator or foreman. The manufacturer uses the following welding methods to fix the assemblies: MIG / MAG 135/136 and TIG 141.
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the training, the welder-compiler:
• Uses working drawings, work instructions and technology card (WPS).
• Selects tools and welding tools.
• Configures welding equipment and selects modes.
• Organizes the workplace properly.
• Selects personal protective equipment.
• Prepares and assembles parts and assemblies.
• Knows how to perform quality control and repair defects if necessary.
• Can fix parts using MIG / MAG 135/136 and TIG 141 welding method.
Content of study:
1.1 Workplace organization, selection and preparation of production and auxiliary equipment
1.1.1 Familiarization with the work drawing, work instructions and technological map (WPS).
1.1.2 Selection of tools.
1.1.3 Selection of welding tools.
1.1.4 Setting up welding equipment and selecting the mode.
1.1.5 Organizing a proper workplace.
1.1.6 Selection of personal protective equipment.
1.2 Preparation and inspection of parts and assemblies.
1.2.1 Preparation and compilation of details.
1.2.2 Assembly and inspection of assemblies for welding.
1.2.3 Joining of assemblies using welding methods MIG / MAG 135,136 and TIG 141.
1.3 Quality control and repair of defects.
1.3.1 Checking the assembly.
1.3.2 Carrying out the final inspection.
Description of the learning environment:
Both the theoretical and practical parts take place at Pae 29, Tallinn. Safety and health requirements are guaranteed in the theory auditorium and workshop. We have 4 classrooms to study the theory, depending on the subject being taught, each class can accommodate 30+ people. The theoretical part is issued at home to record knowledge electronically (on memory sticks). We also issue both personal protection and tools for practical training.
List of study materials : A1training study materials and “Welding – Ignitable Idea” welding manual. T. Karaganova.
Requirements for completion of studies, including assessment methods and assessment criteria: Participation in at least 80% of hours is a prerequisite for completion of studies. In addition, the design must be in accordance with WPS.
Evaluated:
When answering the theory tests, the percentage of correct answers must be 12 out of 20 questions.
- Welding and prefabricated structures. Assembly and fixing of metal structures. Reading of drawings, marking of welded joints according to EN ISO 2563.
- Visual inspection of the part in accordance with WPS.
Documents to be issued: Certificate if the requirements for graduation have been met. Proof if the learning outcomes were not achieved but the learner took part in the study. The certificate is issued according to the number of hours attended, but not if the learner attended less than half the hours.
Short description of the content: The course is intended for workers in the metal industry who are exposed in their daily work and need high-quality and precise welding work. The course is aimed at acquiring professional practical skills. After completing the course, the student is able to apply the acquired knowledge, namely to assemble according to the drawings and fix the assemblies using different welding methods (MIG / MAG 135,136 and TIG 141). A student who has passed the course and received a certificate is ready to work or do an internship.
Teacher: Tatjana Karaganova.
